Specialty crop producers and the Conservation Security Program

The Conservation Security Program (CSP) offers an opportunity for farmers to participate in a long term stewardship program that helps sustain the conservation practices that they have already adopted and provides additional incentives for more intensive conservation efforts on their operations. The application and ranking process are significantly different form EQIP and are outlined in an NRCS Fact Sheet For specialty crop producers and others who are new to federal conservation programs, participation in EQIP is particularly valuable in being eligible for and in making successful application to CSP.

Specialty crop producers in involved in CAP projects have been successful in receiving CSP contracts. Click here to see the experiences of growers in Washington (PDF) and Michigan (PDF)
